I would like to know how is it that non-Americans or foreigners are able to come to USA and own businesses?

like convenience stores, and hotels. Can someone please give me insight because I work for Asians and they will not tell me. They own a hotel and I would like to do this someday. Considering the fact that some of them come here dirt poor, how are they able to obtain funds to open businesses?
